LEARNING TO SEE LIKE AN ARTIST!
Tuesday, June 23
Join us for a fun drawing workshop where students will practice how to "see" like an artist through observational drawing and how to get into the habit of drawing everyday to improve their skills. We will also explore how to expand our creativity by introducing drawing prompts for the whole Summer!
BUILD A VIDEO GAME WITH SCRATCH!
Tuesday, June 30
Build a simple video game with scratch! With Scratch, by snapping together code blocks, you can make games, cartoons, or science simulating and get a task for programming. No experience is required. We go through, step by step, how to make a simple video game project. If you want to be able to save your game, you should create an account here before the workshop https://scratch.mit.edu/ (this is not required for the workshop, only if you want to save your game for later) Running Scratch 3.0 requires a relatively new web browser: Chrome 63 or higher, Edge 15 or higher, Firefox 57 or higher, Safari 11 or higher, Mobile Chrome 63 or higher, Mobile Safari 11 or higher. Internet Explorer is NOT supported.
Tuesday, July 7
It will consist of some basic words and also culture. The only thing the girls will need to participate is their computer and then a tablet or Phone. They would also be able to do it on the computer but it's harder because they would have to navigate all the different screens. They will login to a website I will have posted (similar to Kahoot) where they will enter a code and then choose a character and be able to buzz in to answer questions.
SHOOT FOR THE MOON...OR MAYBE YOUR ROOF!
Tuesday, July 14
The pencils are taped to the 2L bottle as the stand. Fins and a nosecone could also be created and attached with cardboard or another household material (not necessary for flight). Vinegar and baking soda are added to the bottle and the cork tightly seals the neck. The bottle is flipped upside down to stand on the pencils while pressure builds. When the cork pops out, the vinegar forces itself out of the bottle downward while the rocket is propelled upward. My kids and I made these at home and actually work quite well. This should be fun and easy to make at home!
