Incoming Freshmen

Eighth grade is an exciting year with many wonderful milestones awaiting you!

One of the most important is choosing your academic home for the next four years. This process can be overwhelming, so we strive to make things as easy for you as possible. Follow the steps below to complete the admissions process and be sure to contact us with any questions. Once the school year has begun, all prospective students regardless of grade should follow the Transfer Student Application Process.

Step 1: Online Application

Ready? Let's get started! To begin the application process, click on the application link and create an account with your email address. (Remember to keep track of your password.)

The online application will request the following, so it is helpful to have this information handy: address, parent & student emails, best phone number, name & address of your current school, name of your public school district, and any alumnae in your family.

Step 2: Release of Records/Recommendation Form

When you create a SchoolAdmin account and follow the steps to apply to Oakland Catholic, two requests will be sent to your current elementary/middle school principal. All you need to do is enter his/her email address!

The following academic information is requested:

Your 6th & 7th grade transcripts and standardized test scores
Your 8th grade Q1 report card (at minimum) and standardized test scores
Any growth plans, IEPs, or other evaluative measures pertinent to the academic success of the applicant , as well as the student's medical records on file.
Your principal and 7th/8th grader teachers' recommendations for level placement in high school.

Once the records and recommendations have been uploaded, those items will be checked off as completed on your application checklist! *Please follow up with your current school office to ensure records are sent in a timely fashion, or if you notice it's been a while since you submitted the request to your principal.

Step 3: Scholarship Entrance Exam

The third step in the application process is to complete the Scholarship Entrance Exam. The exam dates for the 2025-2026 school year are November 23, 2024, and December 7, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

Exam scores are considered for acceptance, class placement, consideration for invitation to the Joan of Arc Society of Scholars, and eligibility for merit-based scholarships. Results are not scored on a pass/fail basis.

Step 4: Enrollment

Once you have received your Acceptance Packet in the mail, complete the following 3 items to enroll for your OC freshman year!

Sign the intent for enrollment contract through your SchoolAdmin account.
Complete the online enrollment forms through the same account.
Create your FACTS Family Account with Oakland Catholic High School to set up your payment plan, submit the non-refundable $300 enrollment fee to FACTS Management, and apply for financial aid if needed. To submit the enrollment fee via credit/debit card over the phone, please contact our Business Office at 412-682-6633 ext. 1240 or 1262. To submit a payment via cash or check, please bring your deposit to the OC Welcome Center.

*Need-based Scholarships will be awarded to enrolled students in April/May.

Step 5: Complete New Student Orientation

Upon completion of enrollment to Oakland Catholic, students will participate in a New Student Orientation. For most students, this orientation will take place during our New Student Orientation Night before the school year begins.

If you are unable to make it to the New Student Orientation Night, or if you enrolled after this evening occurred, our OC Director of Admissions will contact you with further details.

Completion of this orientation is required before attending Oakland Catholic. Please ensure that both the student and the parent/guardian are in attendance at the orientation.
