Jamaica Mission Trip

Oakland Catholic students and chaperones completed a five-day mission experience in Montego Bay, Jamaica, serving communities impacted by a recent hurricane. The 19 students supported 52 preschool children at Bounty Hall School through lessons on safety, transportation, and nutrition, and spent three days teaching and leading inclusive activities for children with special needs. In addition to educational outreach, students rebuilt a hurricane-damaged playground and purchased, assembled, and distributed 33 food relief bags to local families. Throughout the week, students demonstrated strong teamwork, compassion, and a deep commitment to service. The group was spiritually supported by Father Leo Dornan, a Pittsburgh Oratorian, who served as chaplain and led daily Mass, Confession, and Adoration. The Oakland Catholic community is grateful for this meaningful mission experience and for the warm hospitality of the Jamaican communities they served.
