Oakland Catholic High School was honored to host Founding Dean of Duquesne University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. John Kauffman, and Dr. Amber Fedin on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
Drs. Kauffman and Fedin discussed careers in medicine with students, gave advice on classes to focus on in high school and in college/university, and discussed how they have been able to combine their faith and ability to help others into successful careers. They also explained the differences between an M.D. (doctor of medicine) and a D.O. (doctor of osteopathic medicine) and conveyed the benefits of a career in medicine. Both presenters emphasized that a focus on high level science classes were crucial to success for a medical profession.
Students were given time at the end of the presentation to ask questions.
