Speech & Debate: State Tournament

Tournament Recap: March 15, 2021
The Speech and Debate team had their best State Tournament in over a decade this weekend when four students broke into the final rounds for a second day of competition. Debater, Olivia Smathers, OCHS'21 made it into the quarter final round for Lincoln Douglas Debate while Hannah Hoffmann, OCHS'21 made it all the way into the semi-finals in the same category!

Additionally, Speech competitors, Ella Maier, OCHS'22 and Madeline Sclichter, OCHS'23 both made it into their semi-final rounds for Original Oratory and Prose, respectively.

Oakland Catholic also took 3rd place in the 'Small Schools' category at the state tournament.  (This takes into account all categories in both the speech and debate portions of the competition.) Congratulations to the OC Speech & Debate team!

Note: This is the biggest event and culminating event for our two seniors; Hannah and Olivia.
