PJAS Winners

Four Oakland Catholic students recently placed at the statewide Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition, with three students receiving first place awards. In addition to navigating Penn State's campus and sleeping in the dorms, high school students from around the state delivered their formal presentations to panels of judges and fielded technical questions about their experiments.

Congratulations to all our OC scientists for their outstanding work!

  • Gianna Kennelly - 1st place with a PERFECT score!
  • Adelaide Kruetel - 1st place
  • Luci Mazurek - 2nd place
  • Anna Nguyen - 1st place with a PERFECT score!

As biology teacher and PJAS moderator, Alex Grob, described, "I’m so proud of these girls, we have some amazing STEM students!"

Another congratulations to Gianna, who was selected from all high school attendants to receive an award in Earth/Space research by the Pennsylvania Association of Earth Science Teachers! Huge thank you to Mr. Graner who helped her with her project and presentation!
