Story Details
On Wednesday, December 7th 2022, fourteen students from the Oakland Catholic Model UN club participated in the University of Pittsburgh European Union Simulation Conference. These students represented European Union countries and debated timely issues surrounding NATO, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and global food & energy security. Our students were able to experience the process of diplomacy, negotiation, and resolution writing all while learning about the European Union.
Several of our students came away with awards for their room’s simulation:
- Maia Ramirez, OCHS'25 and Lan Ahn Nguyen, OCHS'25 won first place position paper while representing Belgium.
- Charlotte Devlin, OCHS'23 and Briella Lucadamo, OCHS'23 won the first place position paper award while representing Germany.
- Meghan Pohl, OCHS'23 and Olivia Pretto, OCHS'23 won first place position paper representing the Netherlands
- Marley McFarland, OCHS'23 and Lauren Rajasenan, OCHS'23 won an honorable mention for their position paper representing Sweden.
