Making Our Community Greener

19 students from our OC's Environmental Club planted trees at Frick Park on Monday, October 18th. It was a fun, breezy afternoon outside. Students learned about the disease that killed a lot of trees in the area and then planted new ones in their place. They even got to name their trees, an added piece of fun for the day!

This event was made possible through a collaboration of Pittsburgh Park Rangers and Tree Pittsburgh. They provided all the supplies and our Oakland Catholic students did the manual labor. Conditions were a little challenging due to the overgrown grass and weeds they had to trek through to get to the actual planting site. The Environmental Club is always up for any adventure to make our community a better and greener place!
