Isabel Volpe, '21 attended the St. Francis University Environmental Engineering Design Academy (EEDA). Isabel spent a week collaborating in the design of boats made from recycled products, toured an Acid Mine Drainage facility, and used AutoCad to design her own AMT filtration apparatus. Then built and tested the filtration systems to determine which were the most successful.
Upon completion of the program Isabel was awarded a $4,000 undergraduate scholarship. Being the only female in the EEDA program was challenging, but Isabel managed to shine. Learning to work with different personalities and professors was a wonderful experience for Isabel. She is grateful to Oakland Catholic for encouraging her to apply and attend this wonderful program.
