Oakland Catholic Sophomores Maria Sippel, '22 and Emma Lewis, '22 are representing OC on a mission to teach concepts of sustainability and resolve global challenges by participating in the Green & Healthy Schools Academy Emerging Youth Programs this year. They will have the opportunity to explore Pittsburgh's living sustainability laboratories and engage with national leaders in order to plan and execute a real-world sustainability project, in collaboration with a local professional organization.
By learning about concepts of sustainability, Maria and Emma will be joining the United Nations in their fight to address and resolve global challenges by the year 2030. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals include those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.These young ladies are honored to represent Oakland Catholic on a mission to positively impact the community and create a more sustainable environment for all!
