OC Runners Finish Fall Season Strong

OC's Cross Country team capped a stellar season with fittingly impressive performances at the PIAA Championship in Hershey this past weekend. Freshman Mary Nagy crossed the finish line 105th while junior Tesslyn Helms pushed herself to run the fastest race of her career, finishing 39th with a time of 19:37.

Qualifying for states is, in itself, a substantial challenge. Mud, hills, and stiff competition faced runners at every turn but the Eagles proved undeterred by these obstacles. After an early-October AAA section win, the team went on to place 6th at WPIALs at Cal U, with Tess earning 4th place, Mary 28th and fellow freshman Bridget Shaver finishing in the top 40. To put this win in context, just a week earlier Tess finished 4th at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet.

Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding season!
