Five Oakland Catholic High School seniors were named Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit® Scholarship Program.
Teresa Davison, Zhuying (Emily) Gong, Margaret Jankowski, Delaney McHugh, and Kavya Weaver are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the 2018 Preliminary/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the qualifying test used for program entry. As a spokesperson for the NMSC noted, "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation."
The faculty, staff, and Board of Oakland Catholic applaud their academic accomplishment and look forward to their future successes.
