This past weekend, the Oakland Catholic Model UN club traveled to New York City for the National High School Model United Nations Conference, the largest international conference of its kind in the world.
Sixteen students represented Pakistan and engaged in debate and diplomacy with students from all over the world. The group visited the Pakistan Mission to the UN to speak with Pakistani diplomats, and even sat in the seats of ambassadors at the United Nations headquarters. Attendees also witnessed an OC UN club alumna in action as Isabelle Schmeler '18, now a freshman at George Washington University, participated as a member of the conference staff. To close out the conference, students had the opportunity to listen to keynote speaker, Ambassador Susan Rice.
In between items on their impressive conference agenda, the group took in a broadway show (Mean Girls), explored Central Park and visited iconic Rockefeller Center.
Kudos for representing Oakland Catholic so well at this incredible event!
