Alumna Marguerite (Max) McCrory takes the helm of 20-year-old publication.
In August 2020, Marguerite (Max) McCrory OCHS '15 became the new owner of North Hills Monthly, a print and digital magazine serving Pittsburgh and its northern suburbs.
"I've dreamed of owning my own magazine since I was 18," said the owner of NourishPGH, an online blog and social media services company that she started in 2017.
"When I saw that North Hills Monthly was for sale, I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me. I'm so excited to grow the magazine's online presence and expand sales efforts to new areas with the help of an incredible team."
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, McCrory is a 2015 graduate of Oakland Catholic High School, and she graduated from the George Washington University in Washington, DC in 2019 with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication and a minor in creative writing. She previously worked as an editorial intern at Table magazine and as a social media intern at NEXTPittsburgh. She was also a writer and editor for GW Hatchet, George Washington University's student newspaper.
With McCrory's purchase of the magazine from previous owners Matt Hill and Eric Hill, based in California, ownership of the magazine returns to Pittsburgh. The editorial, production and sales staff will remain in place.
"Being based in Pittsburgh will give me the opportunity to personally meet with local businesses owners and form relationships that will benefit both the community and North Hills Monthly," she said.
