Oakland Catholic is well known for its strong, successful basketball program. OC provides opportunities for players of varying skill levels to compete on their competitive Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams. All players grow with the help of their coaches and teammates through hard work and dedication. Playing in Class AAAA, their exemplary discipline and attitude over the years has earned the Varsity Program four WPIAL titles and three P.I.A.A. victories. Their successes serve as inspiration and incentives for each player that joins the OC Eagles. The program offers practices and sessions throughout the year. All home games are played in the Donahue Pavilion.
Fencing
Coach: Mr. Charles Murphy
Both mentally and physically challenging, perfecting the use of the epee, foil or sabre requires focus, discipline and training. Also an exciting spectator sport, fencing promotes individual ability and teamwork at practices and competitions. Oakland Catholic’s Fencing Team welcomes fencers of all skill levels, from the experienced to the fresh-starters.
Indoor Track
Coaches: Mr. Bill Hahn
With numerous different events, everyone’s strength is prized and developed on OC’s Track and Field Team. The fastest, strongest and most determined athletes compete at the Varsity or Junior Varsity levels and consistently bring home honors and awards as some of the region’s best competitors. Indoor meets in the winter prepare participants for competition in the spring. Dash, jump and throw with us this season!
Swimming
Coach: Merci McCarthy
Schedule: 2009-2010 Swimming schedule
A staple at W.P.I.A.L. and P.I.A.A. championships each year, OC’s Swim Team has won four PIAA titles over the last five years, with individual members breaking records in several events, and they continue to shine. Participation is open to all students who are willing to commit to improving their own abilities while supporting their teammates as they strive to maintain Oakland’s outstanding tradition. Practices are conducted at nearby facilities during the mid-November to March season.
