    Fall 2007 Plans

    The OC Crew will stay at The Quality Inn and Conference Center (531 Route 38 West, Maple Shade, NJ 08052). Room rate is $78.00 for a double.

    You must book by October 16, call (856) 235-6400. The rooms are reserved under Oakland Catholic Crew Parents.
    For the novice parents: you need to book for yourself only, the rowers are taken care of. See the travel directions to the hotel later on this page.

    This hotel is closer to the race site than the ones around King of Prussia where we've stayed in the past few years. There are lots of nearby restaurants.

     

    Directions to the race site: Take the PA Turnpike East to exit 326 - Valley Forge (old exit #24) and transfer to I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway).

    Proceed towards Philadelphia. Take Exit 340A, Kelly Drive. Warning - this exit is on the left side of the road.

    Get into the LEFT lane as you go over the bridge across the Schuylkill River. Follow signs on left for Kelly Drive. The ramp will spiral downwards in a counter-clockwise direction and let you merge onto Kelly Drive, southbound (switch to right lane after merging at bottom of spiral).  As you head along Kelly Drive, the river will be on your right side.

     

    After passing Laurel Hill Cemetery on the left, you will come to a fork in the road. On race day, there will be a police road block at this fork. General public is directed to go left (Strawberry Hill Drive) and find parking somewhere in the Fairmont Park and take shuttle to the riverfront. On the day before race, if there is no road block, keep to the right and proceed along Kelly Drive until you locate trailer area assigned to OC boat trailer. You will need to find a place to pull your vehicle into the angle parking. You can pull into the grassy area momentarily to unload the vehicle but the marshals will not leave you for very long. You might as well find a suitable angle parking spot as quick as you can.

    Directions from the race site to Maple Shade, NJ: Follow Kelly Drive south towards the Boathouse Row. Make a slight sight on Benjamin Franklin Pakway/Eakin Oval. Make another slight right on to 24th Street (signs for I-676 E). Take the ramp onto Vine Street Expressway. Follow direction below to the hotel.

     

    Directions to The Quality Inn and Conference Center (531 Route 38 West, Maple Shade, NJ)

    Follow the directions to Philadelphia as described above but do not take the Kelly Drive exit. Instead,
    continue on the Schuylkill Expressway about 2 miles towards Central Philadelphia.
    Follow I-676/Vine Street Expressway (signs for Central Philadelphia/I-676 E).

    Take the exit towards I-676 E/Benjamin Franklin Bridge/US-30 E. Exit on to N 6th Street and within a block
    merge on to Ben Franklin Bridge via the ramp on left to I-95.

    Continue to follow US-30 - entering NJ - for 4 miles. Take a slight left at Kaighn Ave, follow Kaighn Ave (Route 38) for 3.4 mile.

    The Quality Inn is on right, just past the intersection of Route 73.

    There are lots of nearby restaurants.

     

    Fall 2006 Plans

    Friday, October 27 the team will travel to Philadelphia to race in the Head of the Schuylkill. We will be staying at the Comfort Inn Valley Forge located at 550 Dekalb Pike, King of Prussia, PA 19406.  The girls’ rooms have been reserved. Parents will need to call 610-962-0700 by Monday, September 18 with a credit card to reserve their room. Ask for the block of rooms titled Oakland Catholic Crew – Parents. The cost is $89.00 plus tax.

    Fall 2006 hotel choice: Comfort Inn, Valley Forge/King of Prussia

    Directions from the race site to the King of Prussia: Get back on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) heading WEST, toward Valley Forge. Merge onto West Dekalb/US 202 North via Exit 328B toward King of Prussia. At the 5th traffic light make a jug handle U-turn from right lane to come back on 202 South. The hotel is on the right.
