We are pleased to announce that four members of the class of 2018 have received impressive awards this week!

Molly Deluca and Grace Doerfler (pictured right and second from right) have been recognized as Semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships. Erin Sheedy (pictured left) received a Letter of Commendation for the National Merit Scholarship.

The first step in qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship Program is to take the Preliminary SAT. Students who have the highest scores in each state go on to become Semifinalists. These students must then submit a detailed scholarship application that includes the student's academic record, extracurricular activities, leadership abilities, and awards or honors. Merit scholars will then be chosen from these applications based on their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in college level academia.

Anwara Tayloradams (pictured second from left) received an Award of Excellence for representing Oakland Catholic High School at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders.

The Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders is a weekend long conference held each year by the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists. It invites the gifted high school students who want to go into STEM related careers to connect with some of the best and brightest minds in science and technology today.

Congratulations to these talented members of the OC Class of 2018!
